NetHui 2012 attracts over 600 delegates
Last week’s NetHui 2012 Conference attracted over 600 delegates from across the New Zealand community. Thanks to all for participating and contributing. The energy, ideas and korero were hugely powerful!
Held over three days from 11-13 July at the SkyCity Convention Centre, NetHui focused on the impact of the Internet and how it is influencing and shaping our economy and our society.
Feedback from attendees has been extremely positive, with people commenting especially on the inclusive, wide-ranging and relevant nature of the Conference discussions.
Video recordings of the NetHui sessions are being made available at www.r2.co.nz/20120711, and copies of the main Conference presentations will be posted on the website shortly.
NetHui 2012 garnered a significant amount of press coverage, both in the mainstream media as well as local technology media. A list of some of these articles is available below.
The NetHui mailing list remains active, so the conversation and thinking doesn’t have to stop. We encourage people to use the mailing list to share ideas and thoughts of general interest. Reply to a mailing list email to keep the conversation going or email NetHui@mailman.internetnz.net.
Remember, if you prefer getting all the day’s emails in one digest rather than individually, you can select that option at http://mailman.internetnz.net.
To keep the number of emails manageable, so that people don’t feel overwhelmed and unsubscribe, we will set up separate mailing lists for individual topics or areas of interest. If you had an idea to take forward from the barcamp (like online voting) or want to lead an area of discussion (such as digital citizenship), get in touch with vikram@internetnz.net.nz.
InternetNZ fully intends to get in behind all the initiatives that came out of NetHui 2012. So if you organise something, you can look to us for support (getting the word out, mailing lists, pizza & drinks for meetups, etc.).
Finally, NetHui 2013 will be held in Wellington and InternetNZ is planning to hold a regional NetHui later this year. Stay tuned for further details.
